One of Portsmouth most recognised landmarks

The Strand Mural covers an entire face of a large building in Southsea, Portsmouth, and depicts a stylised map of Portsea Island.

The project began in 1998 and has been through many iterations, most significantly the major overhaul in 2010 due to water damage.

It may be the longest continuously developed mural in existence, and an approach has been made to the Guinness Book Of Records to assess this.

However, the much loved local landmark faces constant challenges due to its exposed position and proximity to the sea. Funding is far from easy to obtain as budgets are squeezed everywhere.

To ensure its survival – donations are accepted, and if they exceed £50 – then you can have you likeness included in the next iteration!
