Mark Lewis and James Waterfield have facilitated art workshops at Gaunts House Summer Gathering in Wimborne Minster, Dorset for a few years. The first year in 2010 we set up a giant plywood banner that we prepared with the words Summer Gathering ready for running workshops throughout the 3 day family festival where families would add their own creations.
In 2011 we decided on a space theme to paint up designs, banners and cutout spaceships with the festival goers that were hung around the large lawn area at the back of the mansion. In 2012 we made masks and added to the artwork from the previous year and randomly placed quirky signs around the estate.
The last gathering we attending was in 2013 where we took along prepared cast fairy doors and masks that could be painted and taken home by the festival goers. Also, we found various rocks, bricks, and logs that were laying about that we painted fairy doors and windows on and placed back in the woods and grounds. If you go into the woods today…you may find them again:)
