The City Map public art mural,
initiated by mark E . W Lewis and undertaken by the Art & Soul Traders, completed in August 1998.
The largest of its kind on the south
coast it was awarded the best land-
scaping award by the Portsmouth
Society in 1999 and was unveiled
by the town Major.
Applied specialist mineral based
paints have given durability of upto
100 years or more.
With ideas and help in painting the lower level from the local residents,
this has transformed an other wise
drab and run down area of the city. Local trade went up 30% after complition of the mural.
Funding came from the arts council
local businesses and city council.
